The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) is looking into a crash on Tuesday that killed a woman walking alone.
SJPD says the accident happened at 6:31 p.m. on South Fifth and East Fernando streets. A man in a silver 2018 Nissan Sentra hit the woman while she was crossing the street. The driver stayed at the scene of the accident and helped the police.
The victim, who hasn’t been named yet, was taken to the hospital with injuries that could have killed them. A few days later, they died, according to officials.
SJPD says this is the 41st traffic-related death of the year and the 15th walking death of 2024.
