A Malaysian woman spent six years caring for her husband after he was paralyzed in a car accident, only for him to divorce her and marry someone else after his recovery.
Nurul Syazwani reportedly wed her husband in 2016. The couple had a son together and had been in a long-distance marriage for two years before her husband was involved in a car accident that required round-the-clock care, according to Sin Chew Daily.
After taking over as his primary caregiver for about a year, Syazwani started posting about her life on Facebook.
She gained over 32,000 followers by posting about the tasks she had to complete on a daily basis, such as feeding her husband through a nasogastric tube and changing his diaper.
Syazwani’s followers were shocked to learn last week that her husband had married another woman after she shared a photo of their wedding in a now-deleted post with the caption, “Congratulations to my ‘husband.’ I hope you are pleased with the one you selected.
Aifa Aizam, please look after him as well as I did. I’m finished with him; now it’s your turn to take over.”
Syazwani wrote in another post that she and her husband divorced on October 6 after “fulfilling their responsibilities as a married couple.”
She added that she and her ex-husband intend to co-parent their son, and that “everything happens for a reason.”
According to Sin Chew Daily, the ex-husband married his new wife just a week after his divorce from Syazwani was finalized.
