The Bicentennial Quarter was introduced by the United States Mint in 1976 to celebrate America’s 200th year of independence. This special coin, with its unique design, quickly caught the public’s attention and has since become a prized collector’s item.
As its value rises, now surpassing $40 million, it stands as both a piece of history and a symbol of American heritage.
Historical Significance of the Bicentennial Quarter
The Bicentennial Quarter is more than just currency; it’s a memento of America’s bicentenary. Its design includes a colonial drummer and a victory torch surrounded by 13 stars, which represent the original colonies.
These features symbolize the nation’s journey and achievements, making the coin not only valuable but emotionally and patriotically significant.
The Rarity and Value of the Bicentennial Quarter
One of the key reasons for the Bicentennial Quarter’s high value is its rarity, particularly in uncirculated or proof condition. While millions were minted,
only a small number remain in pristine condition, which makes them highly sought after by collectors. Coins that are well-preserved or graded in top condition can fetch impressive market prices.
Distinctive Design by Jack L. Ahr
What sets the Bicentennial Quarter apart from regular quarters is its unique design. Created by Jack L. Ahr, it features a colonial drummer on the reverse,
replacing the traditional eagle. This artistic distinction makes the coin especially appealing to collectors who value both historical significance and artistic detail.
Growing Numismatic Market
In recent years, the numismatic market (coin collecting) has seen a surge in interest. This growing enthusiasm has driven up the demand for rare coins, like the Bicentennial Quarter, causing their value to rise significantly.
As more collectors enter the market, the prices of these coins are expected to continue increasing.
The Importance of Coin Grading
The condition of a Bicentennial Quarter plays a crucial role in determining its value. Professional grading services assess coins based on their condition, assigning a grade
that can dramatically impact their price. Coins in near-perfect or flawless condition tend to command the highest prices on the market.
The Bicentennial Quarter is a remarkable piece of American history, cherished by collectors for its design, rarity, and symbolism. Its value, which has now surpassed $40 million, reflects not only its scarcity but also its emotional and historical significance.
As the numismatic market continues to grow, this coin’s allure is expected to increase even further.

Tammy,
What you could do.It’s have your coins sent off to PCGS. Get them authenticated and graded which used which usually takes a while is what i’m told, And the cost is Probably gonna set you back $35 -300, per coin. And then.
Put damnput them at auction with Heritage Auctions. Out of Dallas, TX. Remember you don’t have to sell them all right now.You can sell one or two and try to get your money Back that you spent on Authentication and grading.
Yes I have about 10 of them
I have 7 two of them with the letter -D and 5 w no letters

Thomas,
I would recommend that you get ahold of the heritage auctiand then if you want to sell them to them, they will buy them, but you could also have them sent off to PC. G. Yes.
To get them authenticated and graded. And then.
Sell them through hair to auction and get your money. It costs to get them authenticated and graded. Doing this will cost 35-300, per coin and does take a while to get done.
I have it want to sell
I have old coins here,i need any one interested in them to come over and take example 10 Bundles republik Deutsche land 1991d pfennigs,1 pfennig p 1982 . quarter dollar liberty 1979 usa and more from Canada, Deutsche etc.
I have several of them as well. But don’t think they are worth that much. That perfected value is insane for a quarter. I think it’s a hoax.

Because the Bicentennial quarter with D mint mark has a few that are D D O. And that makes any coin valuable . There 2 types of doubling on 76 D . Combine that with uncirculated . And get a rare expensive coin. Just my opinion. And I’m replying to the original question . Any quarter uncirculated from 64 to 89 is worth taking a look at they were struck horrible
I have them in proof and circulated about 40 of them… You can have them all for 30 mil..
I have a no mint mark on it
In pristine condition.
I have uncirculated bicentennial sets. What can I get out of them?
