As a Christian conservative state senator, I fight every day for the principles that define Ohio’s strength: limited government, free markets, fiscal responsibility, family values, and personal liberty.
I am proud of the progress we have made, which includes eliminating the estate tax, significantly lowering the personal income tax, reducing the number of regulations by 30%, requiring photo ID to vote, protecting girls’ sports, allowing “constitutional carry,” and more.
However, progress has been painfully slow, and there is still much more that could be done.
Now, with the Trump administration in Washington rightfully advocating for the return of power to the states, as the U.S. Constitution originally intended, we have a unique opportunity for significant positive change.
To fully capitalize on this renewed push for federalism, we need a governor who is principled, bold, and unwavering in his commitment to making Ohio the greatest state in the country.
In 2011, when I first joined the legislature, Chief Executive magazine ranked Ohio 41st out of 50 states for CEOs to locate their businesses.
By 2024, Ohio had risen to eleventh place. This is solid progress. However, with some bold reforms, Ohio could be first. This is important.
If CEOs see Ohio as the most appealing state, business moves there, people flock there for job opportunities, and we all succeed.
