Texas Flash Flood Warning: Heavy Rain Expected in Gilmer and Daingerfield Until 9:30 PM

Shreveport, LA – As thunderstorms continue to dump heavy rain across the region, multiple northeastern Texas counties have received a flash flood warning.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport reported that 2 to 4 inches of rain had already fallen in parts of southwestern Bowie County, southeastern Camp County, and western Cass County. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is forecast in the warned area.

The warning, which is valid until 9:30 p.m. CDT, affects several cities, including Gilmer, Daingerfield, and Hughes Springs.

Authorities urge residents to avoid driving on flooded roads, as vehicles are responsible for the majority of flood-related deaths. The heavy rainfall has caused flash flooding in small creeks, cities, highways, and other low-lying areas with poor drainage.

According to the National Weather Service, flash flooding is occurring or is expected to begin soon. Locations such as Lone Star, Naples, Ore City, and Rocky Branch may experience significant impacts.

Residents should monitor local conditions and take appropriate precautions. When encountering flooded roads, remember the critical safety advice: “Turn around, don’t drown”.
