Shreveport, LA – A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for several counties in northeastern Texas due to ongoing thunderstorms that have already produced 2 to 4 inches of rain.
The warning, which applies to Camp, Franklin, Morris, Titus, Upshur, and Wood counties, is in effect until 8:45 PM CDT tonight.
The National Weather Service predicts 1 to 2 inches of additional rainfall, with flash flooding already underway or imminent in the affected areas. Mount Pleasant, Pittsburg, and Naples are among the communities at risk.
Flash flooding is especially dangerous in urban areas, along highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying areas with inadequate drainage.
The National Weather Service recommends that residents avoid driving on flooded roads and “turn around, don’t drown.”
Thunderstorms are expected to continue to produce heavy rain, increasing the risk of flooding throughout the evening. To ensure their safety, drivers and residents in these counties should remain vigilant and heed local warnings.
