COLA may have resulted in an increase in monthly checks for US citizens with an accepted Social Security benefit by 2025. This increase is also possible in Florida, and it will be available to a specific group of Americans in the last week of February.
In this sense, if you live in Florida and are in Group 4 of retirees, you will receive your monthly Social Security benefit by the end of the following week in February. Although retirees from other states will also receive a monthly benefit because they are members of group 4.
In addition to that, it is also possible to get an extra Social Security check before the end of the month. If we are eligible for this extra check, we could get up to $967 more on February 28th, but this payment is not for all retirement beneficiaries.
How do I get next week’s Social Security in Florida?
The payment will be sent on February 26, 2025. This payment is for retirees in group 4, which is the last group to receive all of the Social Security payments. As a result, we have determined that the benefit payment will not reach any additional groups this month following this mailing.
Likewise, in order to receive this monthly payment, you must meet two requirements. The requirements are:
- Your birthday must fall between the 21st and 31st of any given month.
- You must have been receiving a retirement benefit after May 1997.
This means it makes no difference whether you receive your Social Security payment for retirement due to age, disability, or any other reason. Similarly, it makes no difference whether you live in Florida or any other state.
On the other hand, it is worth noting that the payment for February 2025 is higher than for February 2024. This means that our benefit will be increased as a result of the passed SS Increase check from the COLA.
Extra Social Security payment in February
After the 26th payment, we may receive an additional Social Security payment in February 2025. If we are eligible to receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the new benefit will be sent on February 28.
The extra payment is due to a calendar irregularity. Given that SSI checks are sent on the first of each month, we may find ourselves in a situation where March 1st falls on a weekend. Because Social Security does not send payments on weekends, the check is mailed on the preceding working day.
The monthly payment for this benefit is capped at $967, but only the most needy citizens can receive it. It is required to be 65 years of age or older and have limited resources.
