The Stanford Cardinals need to show a lot when they play Notre Dame next week. When they play each other, they should be competitive, and they will need to be since Troy Taylor is in trouble.
Stanford is 3–2 right now, and they were 3–9 in Taylor’s first season as head coach. The Cards haven’t won more than four games since 2018. Their win over Syracuse showed signs of hope and promise, but Taylor is not the right coach to get the most out of this team. The players have a lot of ability, so the coach needs to be changed.
Richard Sherman is the change that would be best.
Sherman played safety in the NFL for 11 years and became one of the best in the league. He went to college at Stanford before that, so he knows the school and what it means to be proud to play and coach there.
He made 80 tackles by himself and 113 tackles all together in college. In the last two seasons, he broke up 23 passes and intercepted six others. Sherman had a hard time because he was pushed down the depth chart because he and head coach Jim Harbaugh didn’t get along at first.
Sherman became a legendary NFL player who knows how to win. He was named to the Hall of Fame All-2010 Team, reached the Pro Bowl five times, and was an All-Pro three times. He also won a Super Bowl.
Sherman is a passionate player, and he would bring that energy to coaching as well. Because he used to play, he would be able to connect with Stanford players and help them grow in the right way to reach their full potential. His main goal is to make Stanford a place where people always want to win, which will help the team become a winner.
