You won’t have to wait long if you get your Social Security payment in late October or early November. The next payment for retirees will be right after Halloween, and the next one will be on October 23.
You must have met the birth date requirement in order to get money from Social Security on October 23. You must also have filed and been approved. To get the payment after Halloween, you had to be getting benefits before May 1997 or be getting Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Requirements to get Social Security before Halloween
If you want to get a Social Security payment of up to $4,873, you must be born between Aug. 21 and Dec. 31. Your direct payment will be in your bank account on October 23 if your birthday is after October 20 and you didn’t apply for any of the pre-payments. Who can’t take part?
- those on SSI as well
- those who began getting Social Security before May 1997
- those whose birthday is from 1-20 regardless of the month
- those who broke SSA rules or did not file
The average payment for seniors is worth $1,920 as of August 2024. You might get a bigger payment if you made a lot of money. A lot less may be given to people who worked for a long time or for a low wage.
Requirements to get Social Security after Halloween
Surprisingly, the payment for November 3 will be sent out on November 1. The Nov. 3 payment had to be moved so that SSA wouldn’t send a late payment. Payday can’t be on Sunday, so it will be on Friday instead.
Payments are always made on time, but if there are any problems, you should call your bank or other financial institution. They may have had trouble completing all the payments, which is sorry for any trouble this may have caused.
If you still haven’t gotten a payment after 3 mailing days, you should report it to the Social Security Administration as missing, late, or stolen.
