A United Airlines flight from Houston to New York had to be evacuated Sunday morning after the aircraft caught fire during takeoff.
In footage obtained by Fox 26, terrified passengers can be heard panicking. Flames erupted from one of the airplane’s wings as it began to roll forward for takeoff.
United Airlines Flight 1382, an Airbus A320, aborted takeoff from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) shortly after 8:30 a.m. due to a “reported engine issue,” according to an FAA statement.
Passengers fled to the runway and were transported to the terminal by bus, the FAA said.
The incident occurred with 104 passengers and five crew members on board.
The flight has been rescheduled to take off at 12:30 p.m. local time.
Houston firefighters assisted passengers in evacuating, the agency stated on X. There were no injuries reported.
Firefighters did not extinguish the fire, according to officials and an IAH spokesperson.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
