Cleveland, OH – Residents in Ohio are facing continued flooding along the Scioto River and Killbuck Creek, as water levels remain high due to recent heavy rainfall.
The National Weather Service issued flood warnings for two Ohio rivers on Monday evening. Minor flooding is expected along the Scioto River near Prospect, affecting Marion and Delaware counties, and Killbuck Creek near Killbuck, affecting Holmes and Wayne counties.
According to the National Weather Service, the Scioto River near Prospect is expected to flood, covering portions of River Road and Route 257 north of Route 36. The river is expected to drop below flood stage by Tuesday afternoon.
Floodwaters have already inundated Killbuck’s private property and several roads, including State Route 60 south and County Road 621. The flood warning will be in effect until Friday evening.
Motorists are urged not to drive around barricades or on flooded roads. “Turn around, don’t drown” is still a critical safety message, as vehicles continue to be the leading cause of flood-related deaths.
Additional updates will be provided on Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service website provides additional flood safety information.
