BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — The recent passage of Bill 56 in the Senate has called into question current regulations for medical and adult marijuana use laws.

This bill calls for personal restrictions and harsher penalties for recreational use outside of one’s home.

Bill Schmitt Jr., owner of the Holistic Cloud, believes this is a step backward for Ohio voters who have already approved laws legalizing marijuana.

Many people believe that because the Senate passed the bill, it is already law; however, it is not. As of now, the law is still in effect, with Issue 2 having been passed by popular vote.”

The bill still needs to pass the House and be signed by the Governor before it can become law.

Schmitt says he’s been advocating against the bill and encourages people to contact their House of Representatives representatives via links posted on his social media.
