Nationwide Mac & Cheese Snack Recall As FDA Issues Risk Warning

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a nationwide recall for a macaroni and cheese snack with a Class II risk classification.

Feel Good Foods Inc., a New York-based company, issued a voluntary recall of thousands of cases of its Three Cheese Mac & Cheese Bites on February 5 due to the possibility of metal pieces.

Why It Matters

Small metal pieces can cause choking hazards, digestive tract damage when swallowed, and tooth damage when chewed.

According to the FDA, a Class II recall occurs when “use or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

Class I is the most serious risk classification, indicating that “there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

Meanwhile, Class III is defined as “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”

What to Know

Feel Good Foods Inc. has issued a recall for 4246 cases of its Three Cheese Mac & Cheese Bites due to the possibility of foreign objects (metal pieces).

The products, which were distributed nationwide, are packaged in yellow cartons with a net weight of 8 ounces.

They have a “best by” date of June 19 and 20, 2026. The lot numbers are 24354AV1 and 24355AV1, with the UPC code 899039002808.

On February 19, the FDA issued its Class II risk classification.

What People Are Saying

The FDA previously told Newsweek: “The majority of recalls in the United States are carried out voluntarily by the product manufacturer, and when a company issues a public warning, typically via news release, to inform the public of a voluntary product recall, the FDA shares that release on our website as a public service.

“The FDA’s role during a voluntary, firm-initiated, recall is to review the recall strategy, evaluate the health hazard presented by the product, monitor the recall, and as appropriate alert the public and other companies in the supply chain about the recall.”

What Happens Next?

The recall is listed as ongoing. The FDA and Feel Good Foods Inc. will continue to monitor the impact of potential foreign object contamination and any reported adverse reactions.
