A Florida man was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious behaviour after police discovered him naked in an elementary school classroom, allegedly with an assortment of sex toys and marijuana.
Officers responded to calls on Nov. 28 about a white male who was “naked in one of the classrooms” at Windmill Point Elementary School in Port St. Lucie, Florida, according to the arrest affidavit.
When officers arrived on the scene, the man reportedly “quickly clothed himself” and fled. When the police caught up with him, Joe Franklin Urias, 34, fought back, punching one officer in the face. Backup arrived after gaining control of Urias, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Police quickly discovered that Urias is a teacher at Somerset College Preparatory Academy, another local school.

Urias allegedly told police that he was homeless and broke into the school through an unlocked window. Officers found several “self-pleasuring devices (sex toys)” and women’s knickers among his personal items in the classroom where they first spotted him.
Police also found Urias with a leafy green substance in a clear, plastic container, which they identified as marijuana.
Charges against Urias included burglary, possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams), and battery on an officer. The affidavit charged him with lewd and lascivious behavior after discovering he was “naked” and running around the school without clothes on and with sex toys.
Following Urias’ arrest on Thanksgiving night, Somerset College Preparatory Academy issued a Facebook statement acknowledging “allegations, unrelated to our school, against an individual formerly employed at our school.”
“We want to emphasize that the safety and well-being of our students and the community is our top priority,” the school’s statement read.
“As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe environment, all prospective employees at our school go through a thorough background check and screening conducted by the local school district.” “We don’t hire anyone without this clearance.”
The press release ended with the following: “We have handled this matter administratively and will take all necessary actions to ensure that this individual does not return to our campus.”
The St. Lucie County Jail is currently holding Urias on a $31,000 bond.
