Machine gun taken from San Jose hit-and-run suspect's house

Police say that a suspect who reportedly pointed a gun at someone during a hit-and-run incident had a large arsenal found at his home.

A machine gun was taken away as part of this arsenal. Near Bernal Road and San Ignacio Avenue on October 6, around 12:15 p.m., the San Jose Police Department was called to a report of a hit-and-run.

When police arrived at the scene, they saw that the suspect, a male adult, had been in a crash with another male adult victim. Police say the man was in his car at the time with his wife and their one-year-old child.

Police say that when the victim tried to get the suspect’s contact information, the suspect pointed a gun at him and ran away before SJPD arrived. Police were able to figure out that the suspect was 48-year-old Timothy Headman from San Jose.

Police from the SJPD’s Assaults Unit started a probe and got a warrant to search Headman’s home. The next day, on October 7, patrol officers saw Headman’s car and stopped it for traffic violations.

When the police arrested him, they found a rifle clip and weapons on him. Detectives from the Assaults Unit, the Special Operations Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET), and the Metro Unit carried out a search request at Headman’s home.

Detectives found several guns, including a machine gun, at the house and took them away. Police also said they had taken a short-barreled rifle, other guns, and different types of ammunition.

He was taken to the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of making criminal threats, brandishing a gun, hit and run, and other felony firearm crimes.
