If we begin collecting benefits from the United States Social Security, we will be able to receive a monthly retirement check. However, that is not the only check that can be deposited into our checking account; if we are eligible, we can receive additional checks every month.

Aside from the retirement payment, there is also the SSI payment and the SNAP Food Stamps benefit payment, though the latter is different and will not be considered at this time.

However, if you accept the Social Security retirement check and receive the Supplemental Security Income benefit payment in the coming weeks, you may receive two SSA checks.

You may have already received one of these checks in previous weeks, as the Administration has issued two different checks. So, try to keep the entire payment schedule in mind so that you can best organise yourself and have a well-developed monthly budget for shopping and managing your expenses.

Who receives two Social Security checks in February?

Only retirees who have accepted both the retirement cheque and the Supplemental Security Income benefit are eligible to receive two Social Security payments directly in February.

These checks arrive on different days because they represent different benefits. Thus, the payment schedule is divided into five distinct days.

This provides us with the following February payment schedule:

  • February 3rd. Payment for retirees with benefits prior to May 1997.
  • February 12th. Post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month collect on this day.
  • February 19th. Retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month collect on this day.
  • February 26th. Retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month collect on this day.
  • February 28th. March SSI Payment.

Using this calendar, we can see that the payment on February 28th is actually the SSI payment for March 2025. Because March 1st is a weekend, the Administration sends the cheque on the previous working day.

This is not to say that there will be no payment for the SSI benefit in February. However, the same thing happens this month and next month. Since February 1st was a weekend, the payment for this benefit was sent on January 31st.

Remember that in order to collect payment on the same day it is sent, Direct Deposit must be activated. This collection method is critical for receiving the cheque immediately.

If we have not activated it, the payment will arrive after a few days. So we should check our bank account to see if we’ll get both Social Security payments.
