Kentucky Flood Warning Extended for Green and Barren Rivers in Bowling Green, Woodbury Until Wednesday Morning

Bowling Green, KY – The National Weather Service has extended a flood warning for several rivers in Kentucky, including the Green River near Munfordville, Woodbury, and the Barren River at Bowling Green.

Heavy rains over the last week have caused water levels to rise, with rivers cresting above normal levels. The flood warning for the Barren River in Bowling Green, which affects Warren County, is in place until Wednesday morning.

Minor flooding is ongoing and expected to continue, particularly in areas like Thomas Landing and Weldon Peete Park. At higher elevations, roads and parks, including Boat Landing Road, become submerged.

Furthermore, flood warnings remain in effect for the Green River near Munfordville in Hart County, as well as the Green River at Woodbury in Butler and Warren counties, until further notice. The Green River at Rochester has been severely flooded, closing several roads, including KY 70 and KY 1117.

Authorities urge the public to avoid driving through flooded areas and to obey roadblocks. “Turn around, don’t drown” is an important safety reminder, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.
