Interstate 71 reopens following an emergency helicopter response to a late-night crash in Hamilton County

Last night, a crash on Interstate 71 prompted Air Care’s immediate response, resulting in the closure of both the northbound and southbound lanes.

Around 11:30 p.m., an accident occurred between Interstate 275 and Snider Road, necessitating the landing of a medical helicopter, which temporarily halted traffic flow.

WLWT reported that the lanes had reopened after the emergency services had finished their work.

The Hamilton County Dispatch informed the public that it was unclear whether any accident victims had been transported to hospitals.

According to Local12, the medical helicopter occupied the highway for nearly an hour while flying low. The cause of the crash remained unknown following the incident.

Officials kept I-71 out of the usual nighttime traffic until the early hours of the morning.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, both sides of the highway were closed in northern Hamilton County overnight due to the severity of the crash.

Normalcy was restored just before 3 a.m. Friday, with vehicles resuming their transit, according to a FOX19 NOW update.

At this point, details about the people involved in the accident are scarce, and their current conditions are unknown. The sheriff’s office has yet to provide additional information, but FOX19 NOW has committed to providing updates on this developing story as they become available.

In the meantime, travelers may reflect on the fragility of an evening commute, which can unexpectedly yield to circumstances that require emergency choppers to disrupt the silence of the night, poised above the concrete veins that channel our daily lives.
