Jordan and Harper, four-year-old twins, saved the day for a retired police officer while also making a lifelong friend.
The girls and their mother, Jessica, discovered a wallet in the Walmart parking lot and were determined to find the owner.
Harper refused to let go of the wallet because she wanted to ensure that “bandits” did not steal it.
The girls and Jessica approached security in the hopes of finding the woman, but had no success. Watt left a note on the wallet that read: “Please call me when you find your wallet.”
“I’m very proud of them. For being four years old, I expected them to try to steal the money and go shopping, but we clearly taught them that honesty is the best policy, especially right before Christmas,” Watt said.
Lesa Stricklan, a retired police officer and security officer at Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy, called the girls and their mother the following day.
Stricklan was at Walmart buying coats for students in need when she realized she didn’t have her wallet. Later, she would discover it, along with the note, at security.
She was overjoyed and thankful that someone had turned it in.
“Doing good around the holidays and every day will pay off. Even if it isn’t tangible, there are other ways God is blessing you, such as health, bringing your family together, or simply having a roof over your head,” said Stricklan.
Stricklan met with the girls and Jessica to give them cards, stickers, treats, and gift cards. The girls gave Stricklan a new wallet, but more importantly, a new friendship.
“I’m nana to them now, those are my new grandkids.”
Stricklan and the girls are happy to have a new friendship.
