It was decided that a guy who had slain his pregnant wife while he was out on bond should spend the rest of his life behind bars.
After entering a guilty plea for the murder of his wife Caitlynne in Pasadena five years ago, Alex Guajardo read a handwritten note to the family of the victim on Tuesday.
Although Guajardo abused Caitlynn in the moments leading up to his murder of his pregnant wife, a judge in Harris County granted him bond and released him from custody.
Because of this, he was released from jail without having to pay any fees.
Following Caitlynn’s murder, the Texas legislature made a revision to the established statute. As of the present, defendants accused of violent offenses are not allowed to post bonds.
