A Hamilton County corrections officer accused of bringing contraband into the jail is facing additional charges.
A variety of charges, including illegal drug conveyance, fentanyl trafficking, aggravated drug trafficking, and drug possession, led to Richard Sampson’s indictment on Friday.
Earlier this month, authorities arrested Sampson, a jail services deputy.
When Sampson was arraigned, the judge noted that he was hired as a corrections officer despite having a criminal record in Kentucky and Indiana, which included theft, OVI, and a gun charge.
The grand jury also indicted Edward Thompson for the same charges in this case.
Investigators believe Sampson brought a cell phone and paper containing traces of fentanyl and xylazine into the jail to distribute to an inmate.
Both men are also charged with conspiracy.
