Notre Dame defeated the defending champions in the first game of the Batavia Rotary Club Girls Basketball Tournament at GCC on Tuesday.

The Irish (6-2) defeated California-Mum 54-46.

ND is on a three-game winning streak heading into Thursday’s final against Elba.

After trailing 15-0 in the first quarter, the Irish rallied and took the lead in the fourth quarter.

Sofia Falleti paced the Irish with 19 points and five rebounds. Lucia Fiorentino recorded ten points and eight rebounds.

Shirley Thompson scored nine points, Clairissa Milliman added six, and Gianna Falleti and Emma Fitch each had four.

“What a comeback!” Coach Vinny Falleti said, “After being down by 15, we had to get into our groove and fight back point by point.”

“Our defense was crucial tonight against a talented, veteran Cal-Mum team that is very well coached.

We have a very young team with no seniors, and our goal is always to compete. Amazing effort. “I am very proud of our Lady Irish.”
