In Cincinnati, a foster mother and two of her adopted children were murdered before the suspect, who died of “apparent self-inflicted stab wounds,” was arrested and taken into custody, according to PEOPLE.

Patricia McCollum, who was 78 years old, DJ McCollum, who was 32 years old, and Kaydence McCollum, who was 11 years old, were discovered dead with stab wounds at a residence located on Springbrook Drive on Thursday, October 24.

The 66-year-old Anthony Mathis, who was identified as the person suspected of killing the victim, was transported to the hospital, where he ultimately passed away as a result of his injuries.

Regarding the victim, it is not clear what Mathis’ relationship was with her.

The charges of strangulation and domestic violence were brought against Mathis in April of 2023, according to the reports obtained. Patricia McCollum was determined to be the person who was killed.

The charge of domestic violence was eventually “dismissed for want of prosecution,” as stated in the documents filed with the court.

In order to show support for the victims, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated. People referred to Patricia as a “hero” and said that she left behind a “legacy of love.”
