Ohioans receiving food and cash assistance will soon require an OHID to access their online accounts.

This weekend, changes will be made to the self-service portal, benefits.ohio.gov, which is used by people receiving assistance programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Ohio Works First (OWF) cash benefits.

According to the release, an OHID is a set of login credentials issued by the state that allows individuals to access multiple state programs and services using a single username and password.

The update also includes multi-factor authentication and other security measures to safeguard user data.
