Driver arrested for hit-and-run arrives in court, revealing a long history of traffic troubles

A Florida woman appeared in court months after being arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run that seriously injured a man.

Tydaijah Murray, 29, was arrested on Thursday and appeared in court the next day, charged with leaving the scene of a crash, failing to stop at an accident scene, and driving with a suspended license.

She was additionally charged with resisting arrest. On August 11, Eugene (Yevhenii) Arsirii, a hairdresser who had recently moved to the area, assisted another driver in moving their disabled vehicle off the road.

While performing a good deed, he and two other people were hit from behind by another driver, allegedly Murray. Arsirii sustained serious injuries and eventually had his right leg amputated.

Murray has a lengthy record of traffic violations and other infractions dating back to 2016, including a 2019 hit-and-run case in which she pleaded no contest. She was allegedly driving with a suspended license and no insurance when the accident occurred.

WPLG, a local ABC affiliate, obtained the crash report, which stated that one of the other crash victims immediately followed the driver — later identified as Murray — to a home after the collision.

According to the report, Murray initially claimed that she had no idea who was driving the car, but later admitted that she was the driver.

Arsirii’s family created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for his medical bills and rehabilitation. On the page, they described how serious his injuries were, stating that he was in critical condition when taken to the hospital and that he could lose both legs.

The individual “underwent multiple surgeries” as well as a “challenging and uncertain road to recovery.” They also expressed concern that he would not receive any compensation.

During her Friday court appearance, a judge ordered Murray to be held in custody on $280,000 bail.

If she posts bail, she is required to surrender her passport and refrain from driving or contacting Arsirii’s family. She would also have to wear a monitor to track her location and alcohol or drug use.
