Washington – A big winter storm is forecast to bring 4-6″ of snow to the Washington, D.C. area starting Tuesday afternoon and lasting until Wednesday morning.
Winter storm watches and warnings are in force in sections of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Ice may cause power outages and tree damage.
Prepare and Take Precautions
Snow is forecast to start falling around 12 p.m. Tuesday. It is likely to produce a difficult commute Wednesday morning as it continues into the evening. After the snowstorm has subsided, another round of inclement weather is forecast to bring cold rain and sleet to the area.
The forecast has already resulted in a 2-hour early dismissal for Prince George’s County Public Schools, a 3-hour early dismissal for Loudoun County Public Schools, and a 3.5-hour early dismissal for schools in Frederick, Maryland, on Tuesday, February 11. More is expected.
