A Cranberry Township man was accused of assaulting and threatening to kill his wife.
Derek Neil Hays, 34, was arrested on December 20 and charged with two misdemeanors: simple assault and making terroristic threats, according to Cranberry Township police.
According to the affidavit, police responded to the Wingate by Wyndham hotel at 210 Executive Drive, where Hays’ wife reported that he had thrown her to the ground several times and pressed her face into the carpet.
The wife then told police that Hays began choking her and threatened to kill her if she left or sought help.
According to police, Hays’ wife suffered abrasions on her left elbow and forearm, as well as bruising on the sides of her face. The affidavit also stated that she experienced neck and throat pain.
Hays is awaiting a preliminary hearing before District Judge Kevin Flaherty.
