Cops: Man pulls off devious plot to avenge half-brother's death by murdering the mother of killer's child

Cops in Texas are looking for a man who they say killed the ex-girlfriend of the person who killed his half-brother in order to get revenge.

There was a shooting at the Teakwood Apartment Complex at 2401 Repsdorph Road around 11:30 a.m. on October 4. The Seabrook Police Department was called.

When police arrived, they found a woman who was later named as 24-year-old MaryJayne Collins who was not responding. She passed away.

It turned out that she had been stabbed. The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office found that she had been killed. There were two young children inside the house at the time of the murder, but they were not hurt.

Within a few days, detectives were able to find a suspect and a reason for the crime. They wrote it all down in a statement of probable cause for arrest. A guy named Diajwan Triplett was killed in Texas City on July 31, 2020.

This had something to do with it. Michael King, who is 25 years old, was caught and found guilty of killing Triplett. Dawayland Hurst is King’s half-brother.

Police say that in June, Hurst started dating Collins, who used to be King’s lover and is the mother of their child. The police did not say if Collins knew about the link. Police say Hurst was violent toward Collins almost right away.

She told Hurst she bit her when she went to her grandmother’s house with a bite mark on her face. She also told her friends about pictures of other bruises she said Hurst had caused.

The day of the murder King called Collins on FaceTime, and it looks like he used a phone that he got from jail. Hurst replied. The statement said that he then made fun of King and hit his child in the face.

Police wrote that Collins could be heard on the film yelling at the child, “No, get away baby, get away from him.” The call was over around 10 a.m. That was the last time anyone saw Collins living.

Police say that Hurst, Collins, and the two kids were the only ones in the house at the time. In the affidavit, it was said that Hurst left the flat just before 11 a.m. on video and walked away from the scene on a “evasive path.”

It looks like King’s mom knew about his phone call with Hurst because she asked on Facebook that someone check on Collins’ health. When her friends saw the post, they called 911, which led cops to find her body. The police got a warrant for the person’s arrest for murder.

“I think the defendant was driven to get back at the people who killed his brother Diajwan Triplett,” an officer said. “So he made friends with, abused, and then killed the Victim, who was Michael King’s child’s mother.”
