Concord Middle School Faces Lockdown Due to Fake Threat; Student Detained

Following a threat that was later determined to be unfounded, a middle school in Concord was placed on lockdown on Monday, and a student was taken into custody, according to the Concord police department.

According to a call that was received by the Concord Police Department at approximately 1:30 p.m., there was a potential threat on the campus of a local school that involved a firearm.

The middle school was placed on lockdown “out of an abundance of caution,” according to the police, and officers were dispatched to Cambridge Elementary School as well as Oak Grove Middle School.

There was a visible police presence at Cambridge Elementary School, and there was also a safety check that was carried out at the middle school.

During the process of dismissing students from school, law enforcement officers received information from a student that identified a possible suspect in the case, according to the officers.

After following up on the lead, the officers were able to identify a student who attended Oak Grove Middle School.

The student was taken into custody by the police after they went to the residence of the suspect and falsely reported an emergency. They were eventually set free and returned to the custody of their parents.
