The guy from Holland who is accused of killing an 86-year-old woman by running over her in a parking lot in the middle of the city on Sunday had just been released from the Lucas County jail two days before.
The victim was named on Monday as Gloria Ann Everett, 86.
There was one count of burglary against Antonio D. Lockett, 45, which is a fourth-degree crime, and he was booked into jail Thursday morning.
A woman called 911 early Thursday morning to say that someone had broken into her bedroom through the window while she was sleeping.
The alarm woke the woman up, and she ran out of the house. When Toledo police arrived, Lockett was still inside.
He was put into the county jail early Thursday morning. On Friday, at his first court date, Toledo Municipal Court judge Michelle A.
Wagner set his bond at $10,000. Lockett was freed on Friday after his bond was paid later that same day.
Lockett is accused of hitting a stopped car and then cutting Ms. Everett off around 2 p.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of Monroe Street in a strip mall parking lot.
The doctor for Lucas County said that Ms. Everett died from multiple traumatic injuries.
Police say that Lockett got out of his car, got the woman’s hat, and put it on her head. The statement says that he left the scene of the crime after realizing she was dead.
A short time later, police found Lockett and his car in South Toledo. He was caught, and the police took away his car. He was taken back to the county jail on Sunday afternoon.
Lockett’s bond was set at $150,000 by judge Joseph J. Howe in Toledo Municipal Court on Monday. A preliminary hearing was set for 9 a.m. Oct. 29.
