Police say a baby boy was dropped from a building’s fourth-floor window and died in an alley in Los Angeles.
The baby was found early Thursday morning in downtown Los Angeles’s Skid Row, which is also home to one of the largest stable populations of homeless people in the country.
When firefighters got there at 5:27 a.m., they found the baby dead and pronounced him or her. Police think the baby was dropped from the building not long after it was born.
Investigators found a woman who had been taken to a nearby hospital a few hours before the baby was found because she was bleeding from her pelvis.
Police said the woman was detained for questioning and then released while they looked into the matter further.
There was no other information available right away.
