Arrest took place after a shooting death in Hayward in July

A 19-year-old guy from Hayward was shot and killed in July, and the Hayward Police Department (HPD) said they had arrested Daniel Ramos, 46, of Newark.

At 10:53 a.m. on July 13, HPD said officers went to the area where Pompano Avenue and Sumatra Street meet and found proof of a shooting that had been reported. A short time later, police said they got more calls about a shooting and an accident near the 27000 block of Havana Avenue.

HPD said that officers found a 19-year-old man with gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a car that looked like it had hit a parked car after the killing.

Angel Enciso was the victim. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but died there from his injuries.

Detectives said they were able to prove that Ramos was the shooter based on evidence they found during the investigation. He was arrested for murder on Thursday. Police say they found several guns in his home during a search, but they don’t know yet if any of them were used to kill Enciso.

Hayward Police say this is still an open case and ask anyone with information to call 510-293-7176.
