Arkansas Weather Alert: Frost Expected in Northern and Central Counties from 2 AM to 9 AM Monday

Little Rock, AR – A late-season cold snap is expected to bring widespread frost to much of northern and central Arkansas on Monday morning, threatening sensitive vegetation.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Frost Advisory from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. CDT on Monday. The advisory covers a large area from the Ozark Mountains to the Arkansas River Valley.

Among the counties represented are Marion, Baxter, Fulton, Sharp, Stone, Izard, Boone, Newton, Searcy, Pope, Van Buren, Logan, Scott, Yell, Polk, and Johnson.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the lower to mid-30s, with clear skies and light winds providing ideal conditions for frost formation. If sensitive outdoor plants are not protected, they may be damaged or killed.

Residents in affected areas, including Mountain Home, Harrison, Clarksville, Russellville, and Mena, should cover or bring in plants overnight. Gardeners and agricultural workers should exercise caution to avoid crop damage.

This type of frost event, while not uncommon in early April, can still cause delays in spring planting. The advisory expires at 9 a.m. Monday, when temperatures are expected to rebound.
