Little Rock, AR – Flash flood warnings are still in effect in several states, including Arkansas, Illinois, and Missouri, as severe thunderstorms continue to produce heavy rainfall rates of up to 3 inches per hour.
The National Weather Service warns that flash flooding could be deadly, especially in urban and low-lying areas.
In Arkansas, counties such as Pulaski, Faulkner, and Conway are experiencing high rainfall rates, resulting in flash flooding along streets and roads.
The storm, which is affecting Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Conway, is expected to last overnight. Additional rain is expected through Saturday, further soaking already saturated grounds.
Illinois is also under a flash flood warning, particularly in Hamilton, White, Gallatin, and Saline counties, where rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches have been recorded, with more to come.
Water levels in Harrisburg and Carmi are rapidly rising, creating hazardous travel conditions.
Dunklin County, Missouri, is experiencing similar conditions, with thunderstorms bringing heavy rain and increasing the risk of flash flooding. Malden and Corning are expected to be among the hardest hit communities.
Motorists in all affected areas are advised to avoid flooded roads and exercise caution when driving at night. Flooding is expected to continue into Saturday morning.
