An elderly woman who had been reported missing was later found living at an assisted living center. She was last seen living with her son and an unknown male in Union City.
Union City Police said that this discovery happened after officers were called to the family’s home on Appian Way on August 16 to make sure everyone was okay after a Silver Alert was sent out for the missing woman.
At first, the police were worried about the woman’s safety, but when they went to the house to look into it more thoroughly, the situation calmed down.
A statement from the Union City Police Department says that inside, they found a badly decayed body lying on a toilet in the bathroom.
In addition to this sad discovery, another adult male was found in the house who was clearly sick and had been ignored. The person was quickly taken to a nearby hospital to get medical care.
There aren’t many details available yet about the cause of death or any possible wrongdoing. The Union City Police Department has told the public that there are no clear signs of wrongdoing.
The person who died has not yet been identified, and the Alameda County Coroner’s Office has been asked to examine the body and make a positive identification.
