A lady in Pennsylvania was given two life sentences without the chance of parole after being found guilty of killing her two young children. Their bodies were found hanging in the basement of their home in September 2019.
The bodies of Connor, 8, and Brinley, 4, were found in their home in Albany Township, which is about 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Lisa Snyder, 41, was found guilty last month of two counts of first-degree murder. The bodies were taken off life support three days later, and Snyder died.
The Reading Eagle reported that Snyder did not say anything during the meeting in Berks County on Thursday.
Judge Theresa Johnson also added another 8 1/2 to 17 years to Snyder’s term because he was found guilty of endangering a child and tampering with evidence.
Johnson said this was the bloodiest murder she had ever heard of in her time as a judge. Another thing she said was that the suspect had never shown any regret.
Owen Snyder, who is 22 years old, is the older brother of the children who died. They were 17 years old when they died. He said his mother was a “monster” and that he no longer thought of her as his mother.
Besides that, he talked about how his late brothers would never be able to be aunts and uncles to his new son and how he would never be able to see the people they would become.
“If I could turn back time I would, just to hear their voices,” he stated.
The accused told the cops that Connor was being picked on and that the other person had threatened to kill Connor. But the police said they couldn’t find any proof to back up her story.
The day the boy was found, a school bus security video showed no signs of trouble. Later, an occupational worker said the child was not physically able to hurt himself or his little sister in that way.
Police also said that the suspect looked up information online about how to kill someone, how to commit suicide, and how to hang oneself. Another thing she looked for was episodes of the crime documentary show “I Almost Got Away With It.”
Police said both deaths were murders and that both children were hanged.
In order to get the defendant not guilty, the defense said that the case was built on speculation and “guesswork.”
The defendant wanted to plead not guilty but mentally sick to third-degree murder, but the judge turned down the deal.
