A man who used a dating app to lure a truck driver to his death has learned his fate

A man from Georgia will spend the rest of his life in prison because he used a dating site to trick a truck driver into killing himself.

Garcia Danielle Gaddis, 39, was shot and killed by Mark Antonio White, 23. He was found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said, “We pray that this verdict and the justice it serves brings some comfort to this victim’s family and loved ones.” “The defendant used Mr. Gaddis, and she got what she deserved.”

He was shot and killed on Thursday, October 21, 2021. The next Sunday, when police were called about noise, they found his body, shot in the head, in a Dodge Ram 1500 that was parked in a neighborhood. His wallet, cell phone, and car keys were gone.

Police later found out that the person who contacted Gaddis on the dating app Tagged on the night he was last seen was White.

Prosecutors say that in their online conversation, Gaddis agreed to meet White near the Little Suwanee Pointe neighborhood. Police say White told Gaddis to pick him up near the pool when he got there.

Prosecutors said that Gaddis’ truck drove through the neighborhood just after 11 p.m. and stopped in the parking lot of the pool clubhouse to pick up a Black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks.

The truck was seen driving toward the Tech Center Parkway entrance to the neighborhood. A short time later, the same man with long hair was seen walking back to the pool clubhouse from the entrance.

Three shell casings from a gun fired in a shooting on July 19, 2021, were found in the cab of Gaddis’ truck that matched the one found by police. White was accused of shooting at his ex-girlfriend and her mother, according to prosecutors.

Authorities say the mother kept the shell casings and gave them to police when they called her about the Gaddis case.

After weeks, police said that body camera footage from an eviction from a townhome across from the pool showed a man inside the unit dressed like the person seen on video the night Gaddis was killed. In June 2022, White was caught.

Mercedes Evans, Gaddis’ cousin, told area NBC station WXIA that the victim was loved and that he was a truck driver who also drove for Uber on his days off because he liked meeting new people.
