Based on Nola.com, the man who was arrested after the alleged murder of a woman at an apartment building in New Orleans East had a $20 million bond set.
Our friends told us that Eric Gentris, 35, was arrested on one count of second-degree murder after being moved from Lafayette Parish.
He is accused of killing Katelyn Howard, 25, near the intersection of Bridgehampton and Suffolk Drives on October 16 at 7:15 p.m.
Gentris was caught in Scott, LA, on Wednesday night, after police chased his car through several states. They said he had a gun on him and his daughter, who is 4, was with him.
Court papers show that Howard and Gentris were dating for years and had a violent history together.
Gentris was arrested a few months before Howard was killed for getting into her home and pushing her against the wall.
“It would not be smart to comment on the specifics of this case while the prosecution is still going on,” DA Jason Williams said in a statement.
“The public record indicates that prior to this homicide, during his last court appearance, this individual was rated a level 5 out of 6 risk for new criminal activity by the risk assessment tool used by the court to set bail.”
