LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A suspected serial shoplifter, accused of stealing more than $16,000 from stores, has been arrested.
Donald Wright has been charged with two felonies for theft and one for possessing criminal tools, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
“Several stores, including Victoria’s Secret, and we have him going into Dick’s,” explained detective Mike Steele. “I know he frequented Macy’s stores as well. Allegedly, the Liberty Center Mall alone accounts for more than $16,000.”
According to Steele, Wright was tracked down after a deputy received a hit from the flock camera system.
“One of our deputies using flock cameras received a hit,” detective Steele stated. “We entered his license plate because we recognized what he was driving.
The deputy realized he had hit in Fairfield Township and was able to connect the dots, concluding that he had most likely gone to Bridgewater Falls. “He went there and found the vehicle.”
According to Detective Steele, Wright has also been linked to shoplifting incidents in Hamilton and Montgomery counties.
Investigators also discovered him carrying a tool for removing magnetic security tags.
