A New York woman sued a former NFL player, claiming he intentionally infected her with a sexually transmitted disease.
Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Eric Moulds was named in a complaint by a woman who claimed the NFL star pursued a sexual relationship with her while knowing he had herpes, which is incurable.
According to the lawsuit, Moulds did this to numerous additional women and deliberately “targeted single mothers who were Buffalo Bills fans living in Western New York.”
According to the lawsuit filed on December 10, Moulds began contacting the woman via Instagram in 2018. In December 2023, their conversations transitioned into text messages, which eventually led to a “long-term romantic relationship.”
Moulds reportedly offered his services as an athletic trainer and paid for the woman’s trip from her home in upstate New York to his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. However, instead of doing any fitness training, the two “developed a sexual relationship.”
The woman later made several more trips down south to see Moulds, all at his expense.
By November 2023, the couple had their final documented sexual encounter, which the lawsuit claims was “unprotected.” The woman began experiencing symptoms in December 2023 and later tested positive for herpes simplex virus type 2, which is treatable but not curable.
Because the woman had been seeing Moulds exclusively, she assumed she contracted the disease from him, but he allegedly never revealed that he had an STD.
More on Law and Crime: A bill that criminalizes the spread of STDs, including some conditions that do not require sexual contact, is currently making its way through the state House.
The woman also found out that Moulds had a “pregnant fiancée with whom he had been in a relationship for eight years.” According to the lawsuit, the fiancée advised the alleged victim to undergo testing for sexually transmitted diseases, as he had infected her and other women he had relationships with.
“Plaintiff later discovered that Defendant had also communicated with multiple women other than Plaintiff via social media. According to the lawsuit, the defendant targeted single mothers who were Buffalo Bills fans and lived in Western New York.
The lawsuit claims that several women sued Moulds “for knowingly spreading herpes over a decade ago” and that he paid them to keep quiet. He allegedly required them to sign nondisclosure agreements as well.
The woman who is suing Moulds now asserts that he offered her payment to drop her lawsuit and “buy her silence.”
The lawsuit, based on numerous previous lawsuits, claimed that Moulds “intentionally” infected multiple women with herpes.
Moulds faces a lawsuit alleging negligent and intentional actions, failure to disclose, and infliction of emotional distress.
Moulds’ attorney, Frank LoTempio III, “We are gathering information and responding to the complaint, which we will vigorously defend.” I will provide additional information and comments once the litigation process begins.”
