A former Mid-Missouri congressman has been appointed to the University of Missouri’s governing board.

Blaine Luetkemeyer, who resigned from his seat representing Missouri’s Third Congressional District following the November election, has been appointed by Gov. Mike Kehoe to the University of Missouri Board of Curators, Kehoe’s office announced Tuesday.

Leutkemeyer served in the House for more than 15 years, representing the Ninth and Third congressional districts.

Leutkemeyer is a banker by trade and holds a bachelor of arts in political science from Lincoln University in Jefferson City. He lives in St. Elizabeth.

Leutkemeyer retired rather than running for reelection. He was replaced by Dr. Bob Onder, a Republican from the St. Louis area.

The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation. He would succeed Robin Wenneker, an at-large board member whose term expired on January 1.
