A father got angry when a kid aged 12 lied to him about a minor household issue, so he took out his belt and hit the boy 51 times, then began choking him before threatening to break his jaw; charged

In a disturbing incident in Florida, a father, Lance R., 42, assaulted a 12-year-old child over a minor household issue, and the couple is now facing serious legal consequences.

The episode, which featured extreme violence and neglect, shook the local community and highlighted the critical issues of child welfare and domestic abuse.

Lance and his 35-year-old wife, Kimberly R., were both arrested in connection with the alleged abuse that occurred in their home on December 7.

Lance faces charges of aggravated child abuse and battery by strangulation. His wife is facing charges for failing to report the abuse.

According to the sheriff’s office, the abuse began with a displaced couch cushion, which Lance allegedly used to justify nearly thirty minutes of physical and verbal assault on the child.

The abuse was reportedly so severe that Lance, enraged because the child had lied to him, took a belt and hit the boy 51 times before choking and verbally assaulting him with obscenities and threats.

The verbal abuse included extremely derogatory names and threats to break the child’s jaw, as well as statements that the child would not be allowed to sleep in a bed.

The incident was partially captured by home surveillance, which provided important evidence to the police.

While the video did not show the belt strikes, they were audible, and the child’s injuries indicated that he had been struck several times.

The child also claimed Lance hit other younger children in the household, exacerbating the allegations.

Police launched an investigation on December 11 after being notified by other family members who had seen the video.

Following a medical examination of the boy, a doctor concluded that the child’s so-called ‘discipline’ was severe, involving physical attacks and sleep deprivation.

During police interviews, Lance allegedly admitted to the abuse. When questioned, Kimberly admitted to seeing the video and told detectives that she stopped counting belt strikes after reaching 15.

When informed of the total, her reaction was to simply shake her head, indicating that she was aware of the gravity of the abuse.

Both people were arrested and taken to jail. Lance is being held without bond, reflecting the gravity of his charges, while Kimberly’s bond has been set at $5,000.

This case is a sobering reminder of the difficulties that law enforcement and communities face in detecting and preventing domestic violence.

It emphasizes the importance of community vigilance, as well as family members’ responsibility to report suspected abuse. As the legal process progresses, the focus is on ensuring justice for the victim while also protecting other children who may be at risk.

This harrowing episode emphasizes the critical importance of effective intervention and support systems in protecting vulnerable children and preventing such severe abuse in the future.

It also calls into question the monitoring and intervention mechanisms that could help children in similar situations avoid prolonged suffering.
