A girl, 4, died after she fell out of a Washington apartment window on the fifth floor.
The crime happened at the Echo Lake Apartments at 1160 North 192nd Street on Sunday, October 13. The King County Sheriff’s Office told Fox 13 Seattle about it.
According to witnesses who spoke to the news station, a kind person tried to give the child CPR until emergency workers came. However, the girl died from her injuries on the way to the hospital.
From what the King County Medical Examiner can tell, she died from a blow to the head. KIRO 7 says the examiner said Mi’layah’s death was an accident.
A person who was there told KIRO 7 that he went around the back because he heard someone yelling. “When I went back there, I saw the girl who had fallen out of the window.”
He also said, “That young man is a real hero.” This young man performed CPR on his own for more than four and a half minutes.
KIRO 7 also talked to the child’s mother, Najaha Chancellor. She said that the accident happened while she was home alone with her four young children at the time.
Chancellor said that the 4-year-old girl had been jumping on the bed with her brothers while they played.
“She ran into something, the screen fell off, and she fell, and I lost it,” the upset parent said. “It’s your job as a mom.” You must always keep your kids safe.
Chancellor also said that she has to be strong for her three other children even though she is sad about the death.
This is what any mother would do: try to keep it together. I still need to be strong for three more kids. “So letting kids cry will make them feel even worse,” she said. “I will never get over this because losing a child is different.” There is no comparison.
Since her daughter died, Chancellor started a GoFundMe to help pay for the funeral. The money will also be used to help the family through this hard time.
People wrote on the GoFundMe that Mi’layah was “sweet” and “vibrant.”
“Mi’layah made our lives better.” She was always happy, and everyone who met her felt the same way. “She loved her family very much, especially her siblings,” the post said.
The post said that the little girl with a “huge heart” loved “the simple things in life, like her favorite fruit, bananas, and her love for the water.”
“One of her favorite things to do was swim. She loved splashing around and feeling free in the water.” Our family will always remember Mi’layah because she was smart, fun, and beautiful.
