The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said that a guy from California is being held on suspicion of a terrifying and deadly string of rapes in the Redondo Beach area.
It is said that Michael Anthony DiGiorgio raped at least nine people at his homes in Hermosa Beach and Rendodo Beach from 2019 to 2021.
DiGiorgio, who is 50 years old, is accused of giving the women drugs so he could sexually attack them.
Prosecutors say that one of the women he drugged died during the attack in July 2020. The woman has not been named.
In a statement, LA County District Attorney George Gascón said, “I are deeply sorry for the victims’ lives that have been changed forever and the life that was lost because of the alleged brutal acts of the offender.” “Our office is determined to hold him responsible for the harm and pain he has caused.”
LA County court records show that the first alleged rape happened in May 2019 and the most current one happened on November 28, 2021.
A lot of the charges are for sexual attack “by use of drugs.” DiGiorgio is being held without bail and has to go back to court on November 6 for his trial and plea hearing. He has been given a public attorney.
DiGiorgio could spend the rest of his life in jail if he is found guilty.
