A Negative Outlook on Silver Creek May Be Caused by Trashed Campuses

Everyone at Silver Creek High School has to deal with trash-filled areas in many places on campus.

When kids leave trash at school, it can affect everyone there.

They leave trash behind because they are too lazy to throw it away or think teachers will do it for them.

“How do you think trash affects our campus?” I asked a student named Ismael Hernandez. “I feel that trash that is left on campus makes the campus look unprofessional and gross to me and many other students.

It also makes guests at Silver Creek think the school is messy, unsupervised, and disorganized.”

Students avoid places that are messy until they are cleaned up by an adult, which is something else I would add. Because of this, the adults there will have to clean up after the kids leave.

When asked by another student, Tayson Crump, “How do you feel about trash being left behind?” he replied, “Trash that is left behind makes other people responsible for your mess, and if no one cleans up your mess and it is food, it can rot over time making the place smell bad and might invite bugs to school.”

Crump is right; if you leave your breakfast or lunch out for days, it will go bad and make students and teachers avoid that place.

Some students might think it is funny to mess around with the bad food, but it could get everywhere and stain or smell up our Silver Creek turf.

To stop this from happening, students should be responsible and willing to help by picking up trash, whether it is theirs or someone else’s.

When asked, “What is one way that other people can help keep our campus clean?” by a student named Preeya Singh “Having a volunteer community service club is another way to keep the campus clean,” she says.

This might help make sure that more places on campus are cleaner. I agree with you that this is a great idea. Singh’s idea will teach students how to clean up after themselves and others and give them more roles to play.
