Ten people were caught at a San José Target store by the Retail Theft Task Force of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said on their Facebook page that the arrests happened last week at the N. Capitol Avenue Target.
They were caught stealing a scooter, beauty products, medicine, baby formula, health goods, and ink cartridges, among other things.
Captain Brendan Omori talked about how successful the task force was: “Retailers are starting to hear about our unit’s tough enforcement.”
Retailers have thanked the team for working to stop theft in their stores, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. More than $8,000 worth of stolen goods were found in just one store during this sting operation.
The task group, which is made up of the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, the San Jose Police Department, and different specialised teams within the Sheriff’s Office, shows how important it is to work together to fight retail crimes.
They make arrests right away and find information about large criminal groups that buy stolen things and sell them again for a profit.
