A Texas man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for killing his wife and wrapping her body in a tarp, according to authorities.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that a jury convicted 34-year-old Christopher Robertson of murder in the death of his wife Kristlynne Robertson, and a judge sentenced him to 50 years in prison.
“He left five children without a mother,” Assistant District Attorney Riley Reynolds informed the jury.
Around 9:40 p.m. on April 19, 2024, the Fort Worth Police Department responded to a home in the 5500 block of Whitman Avenue, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit.
Law&Crime previously reported that the suspect’s brother, who lived with the couple, had been gone for several days before returning home.
“When he returned, he observed Christopher extremely intoxicated inside the house,” according to law enforcement. “He then saw Christopher walk into his bedroom at which time [the brother] smelled a strong foul odor.”
Robertson allegedly tripped over something in his bedroom. After seeing that, the brother looked inside and discovered Kristlynne, his 34-year-old sister-in-law, wrapped in a tarp, according to officers.
According to documents, the brother escorted Christopher Robertson out of the house, called for police and medical assistance, and removed the handgun from the defendant’s desk and stored it in his own room for safety. According to police, the brother later gave them the firearm.
Responding officers stated that they discovered the victim in the far south bedroom of the house. She was covered in a tarp, shirtless, and had been shot in the face.
“I briefly met with Christopher Robertson, but he was too intoxicated to understand what I was saying or provide a meaningful response,” the accuser said.
Officers stated that they obtained a search warrant for the residence early the next morning. Later that day, at 12:41 p.m., Christopher Robertson allegedly called 911 and confessed.
- “My father-in-law is going to kill me.”
- “I actually killed his daughter.”
- “I killed his daughter.”
Detectives said they met with Robertson at the home. He told them he shot his wife, and he said he wanted to go to jail.
“Christopher Robertson also handed us a gun that he had on his person and stated that it was the gun that he used to shoot his wife,” they wrote.
