Residents in Mountain View had to deal with an unexpected issue yesterday morning when a nearby mobile home caught fire. The lives of the residents and their home were in danger after a 911 call about flames in the 1000 block of Space Park Way was made at around 4:36 a.m.
According to Mountain View city authorities, the first engine arrived six minutes after the call, demonstrating the quick response time of the City of Mountain View Fire Department in dispatching units.
Before the fire department arrived, a Mountain View Police Officer arrived on the scene promptly. By utilizing a fire extinguisher to put out the flames on an electrical exhaust fan, the officer was able to control the fire.
Because of this prompt action, the fire was kept from spreading until emergency personnel could arrive and carry out a comprehensive overhaul, which included opening the ceiling and inspecting the roof for any potential fire extensions to guarantee the flames had been completely extinguished.
After the fire was extinguished, the occupants of the impacted mobile home were permitted to return home without suffering any injuries. The California Professional Firefighters Union’s Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency Program offered the residents a $250 gift card as a token of appreciation.
The prompt action of the fire and police departments prevented a potentially more serious incident, limiting the damage to $10,000, which consisted of both structural damage and lost belongings. It was determined that a broken electrical exhaust fan in the bathroom was the fire’s origin.
