Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) slammed criticism of the overhaul of thousands of federal employees, labelling some of it “ridiculous.”
Jordan appeared on “Fox News Sunday” to discuss the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and the elimination of various federal jobs.
On air, Jordan mentioned a recent Washington Post story in which a national park in California fired the only locksmith capable of getting stuck people out of the restroom.
“If that’s not… I mean, is that the best you can do? The real question is, “How do visitors become locked in restrooms?” Jordan questioned. “I mean, this is how ridiculous some of this thing is.”
Jordan admitted that DOGE’s quick actions in restructuring the federal government may have resulted in mistakes, but he understands the Trump administration’s real urgency to reduce “wasteful spending.”
“The one guy who can unlock people who somehow get locked in a restroom at a national park?” he asked once more. “This is ridiculous.”
He slammed the Democratic Party’s criticism of the layoffs, calling them “pretty darn crazy” arguments. Democrats have warned that the cuts will be detrimental to both the country and people’s livelihoods.
Jordan noted that President Trump campaigned on cost-cutting measures and is simply carrying out those promises.
“Instead of Democrats attacking the guy who’s exposing the stupid spending, how about helping us get rid of the stupid spending?” Jordan asked.
