I cry each night': Local mom clings to wish 14 years after son's disappearance

HAMILTON, Ohio  — Debbie Estes has been living a nightmare since her son, Billy DiSilvestro, disappeared in February 2011. The 28-year-old was last seen in Hamilton and despite exhaustive efforts by authorities and the community, the case remains unsolved.

“My son’s favorite childhood game was lost and found, you know? Hide and seek. “This is the biggest hide-and-seek I’ve ever done,” Estes stated.

Billy, who had a history of alcoholism, was reportedly in recovery and living with his grandmother when he went missing. On February 7, 2011, he informed his grandmother that he was going to a friend’s house.

She dropped him off on Franklin Street in Hamilton, but a witness later reported seeing him on Ross Avenue, where he was thought to be partying and drinking in an apartment. What happened next remains a mystery.

Estes has dedicated her life to spreading awareness about Billy’s case and other missing persons, putting up signs and billboards around Hamilton. Despite her efforts, she has been plagued by rumors and false leads. Despite her best efforts, she has been plagued by rumors and false information.

“This case has gotten so much traction that there’s been people that have no information, never knew Billy, don’t have any credible information, just to be involved in the case,” she went on.

Detective Joe Nerlinger of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office stated that they have exhausted a long list of leads over the last 14 years. Some rumours claimed Billy was buried on a pavement or that his body was discovered in Ross, but none have been confirmed.

“I do not believe it. “I’m not going to believe it until one of these detectives knocks on my door and tells me,” Estes stated.

Billy attempted to call his mother and grandmother around 2:30 a.m. on the night he disappeared, but neither answered. Estes claimed the missed call haunts her.

“I can’t; I don’t know how to describe that pain. It’s like — gut-wrenching, ongoing, and I cry every night,” she explained.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Texas EquuSearch, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and local residents have all spent countless hours looking for Billy. Detective Nerlinger emphasised the value of credible information.

“I can’t imagine what Debbie has been going through for the last 14 years.” “Someone knows something, and someone needs to step forward,” he said. “Until we have someone with credible information come forward, we don’t have anything at this time.”

Estes remains hopeful for her son’s return, saying, “There isn’t a second that goes by that I don’t think about Billy. I don’t care what I’m doing. If I’m driving down the road or sitting here talking to you, it will come to mind.”

Billy’s grandmother has since passed away, having spent every day hoping for his return. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
